Royal Air Force Typhoon FGR4s have operated alongside France's air force in a coordinated attack against an subterranean weapons facility in Syria operated by the IS group, as stated by the UK's MoD.
The location, located using surveillance, was assessed as storing arms and explosives, the announcement noted, and was situated in hills just north of the ancient city of Palmyra in Syria's central region.
"The RAF jets employed precision-guided Paveway IV munitions to hit a number of entry passages providing entry to the site... preliminary assessments are that the strike was effective," the MoD said.
There was no evidence of any civilian impact in the operation on Saturday evening and each participating jet returned safely, the MoD added.
The Typhoon fighters were backed up by a Voyager tanker plane.
Daesh - referred to as ISIS - imposed extremist governance over large swathes of Iraq and Syria until 2019.
"This operation underscores our UK leadership, and determination to operate in unison with our partners, to stamp out any resurgence of Daesh and their dangerous and violent ideologies in the area," UK Defence Secretary the Defence Secretary said.
British military aircraft have conducted overwatch operations over Syria to "prevent any efforts to regroup" of the group after its defeat at the Baghuz confrontation in 2019, the MoD reported.
"I must thank the personnel of our armed forces involved in this mission for their professionalism and their valour," the Defence Secretary commented. "They were among thousands of British personnel stationed over the festive period. This mission, to remove terrorist threats who threaten our security, demonstrates how our armed forces are ready to step up, continuously, protecting the UK within its borders and strong abroad."
Last December, the American forces carried out what it described as a "major assault" on IS targets in Syria, subsequent to an attack claimed the lives of two American soldiers and a local interpreter in Palmyra.
The UN says Daesh still boasts between 5,000 and 7,000 fighters in Syria and Iraq.
